I'm curious if there's any focus ring backlash on macro shots with this lens? Asking because I own an EF non-cine version of the lens, and it has a looot of focus play. Setting keyframes or marks for FIZ motors never work precisely with it. I love the lens though, and if the cine version fixes this issue, then I guess I'll have to upgrade :)

you are so wrong, there is no reason the sdi out can't send a signal to the old evf from the other 12k if you can find a way to power the evf

Like the box Design, but i think that one of the main reasons for this type of design (box) is the modular factor, the easy way to add new modules to the main box but in this case i don’t see a expansión port.

Would love to know if existing BP-U dummy battery to dtaps or 12v DC to d taps currently work on it.

Thank you for nosing around the camera up close like this. And I appreciate knowing there’s a USB-C option. 4.0 I hope? Although because it’s a module they can always provide updated ports for the camera as media formats mature and change over time. That’s huge, and I don’t think that came up in Grant’s presentation the other day. I’m not quite ready to make the plunge. The price point and capabilities are a bit beyond the needs of my small production business (and commercial spec sheets will keep asking for Sony long after this camera is released), but one of these days.

I hope the Ursa Cine 17K will be under $25k. I would get one if it is!

Very interested in how this camera will perform once it gets into the publics hands. If it's close to it's DR claims, has good color, and doesn't do funky things with the rolling shutter and downscaling, it could be crazy good system. Expectations are seriously tempered, but one can dream.

If we use the evf on the pyxie, does that mean we can't use SSD since both use usb-c or is there another option for connecting the evf?

How are those 8tb storages transferred to the PC?

Thank You! & I hope Gyro data can come to the Ursa 12k as well, along with whatever other updates. If you can, ask them is there any pixel remapping options. The original Ursa 12k doesn't have that option.

For the price, this is insane. Coming with 8tb storage as well.. 16 stops of DR, this thing is absolutely incredible.

I hope we get a new EVF with one cable and a new video assist with camera control (also able to be software color calibrated). I was really close to getting an Ursa 12K but holding off until they updated the media to CFexpress and the gyro option. To get all of that plus some surprises like a full frame sensor would be a dream.

My prediction…. A new body, so that means a new cinema line. BMD will focus more on Dynamic Range 16-19stops (go big or go home lol). 14-16 Bit Full frame (based off of the Ursa 12k sensor). Even if stitching 2, 12k sensors makes a 16-17k sensor option, I don’t believe BMD will go in this direction. They’ll just allow us to film maybe in 14k. 8-10 stops of ND. OLPF included. Gyro data info. Lemo ports. HDMI along with standard 2 SDI outs. 2, CFexpress slots. A new Video Assist that can control ALL BMD cameras through bluetooth. & wireless live feed option.

Can a macro lens help you get detailed close ups on shoe sized objects with the camera moved back from the subject? I'm basically trying to get close up shots of me building and prototyping with my hands, but I want the camera out of the way and not right up in the work space. Would this work well for that?

Hey Levi, Gotta say you're on the money about lenses. When I first got this camera I went on a spree and got 5tb worth of SSD's and put the camera through it's paces, and what I found out is that unless you're using extremely high end glass and viewing it on some fantastic display, there is actually very little benefit in shooting in higher res modes. I have two LG Ultra Fine 4K monitors and I stop seeing the differences past 4K, but what you do get with higher res modes is more noise and more visible optical imperfections. SSD's are a bit of a janky solution, because there's that flimsy port to worry about - it did disconnect on me in the middle of a shoot, and not every cable works as well as the previous one. Tita branded L shaped cables were refusing to work for me. So yesterday I went out and got 300mb/s UHS-II cards and I'm happy to be shooting in 4K for most of the time while having a softer and more cinematic image that way!
